TradingView invite-only scripts: how they work

If you've bought a strategy delivered as a TradingView “invite-only” script, here is what that actually means: an access-controlled Pine script granted to your specific username, runnable on your own charts but not copyable or resellable.

TradingView lets authors publish Pine scripts as public, private, or invite-only. Invite-only means the code runs on the platform but access is granted per user. The author adds your TradingView username to an allow-list; the script then shows up in your account, ready to apply to a chart.

The invite-only flow: the author grants access to your TradingView username, the script appears in your account, and you run it on your own charts like any other indicator or strategy.

Why authors use it

Invite-only protects the underlying logic. You can run the script and see its results, but you cannot read or copy the Pine source, and access is tied to your username so it can't be freely shared or resold. For a paid strategy, this is the standard delivery method on TradingView.

What you can do with it

Once granted, you apply the script like any indicator or strategy. You can set alerts so it notifies you (or a bridge) when a signal fires, and — for a strategy script — you can run it through the Strategy Tester to reproduce the published numbers yourself. That reproducibility is the whole point: it's how you verify the backtest is real.

The access caveat

Because access is username-bound, it's personal and non-transferable. That's a feature, not a limitation — it's what lets the author publish verifiable results without handing over the code. If you change TradingView accounts, access has to be re-granted to the new username.

Invite-only is the honest middle ground: you get to reproduce every number on your own charts, without the author having to expose the code that makes it work.
