Profit split
The profit split is the share of funded-account profit the trader keeps, commonly 90/10 in the trader's favour after an initial period.
How it works
Many firms front-load the split: Apex pays 100% of the first $25,000 per account before moving to 90/10, and Topstep historically paid 100% of the first $10,000 — a term that now applies only to accounts opened before January 2026, with newer accounts on 90/10 from the first dollar. The split applies per account, so multi-account traders reach the transition point separately on each.
Why it matters on a funded account
The headline split is easy to compare and rarely decisive. Payout frequency, eligibility conditions and processing time move the effective return more.
