Take Profit Trader Test vs PRO vs PRO+: every rule that changes

The drawdown clock changes twice on the way from evaluation to PRO+. Every rule by stage, and why the Test measures the wrong things for a systematic strategy.

The clearest stage switch in futures

Take Profit Trader runs one rulebook for the Test and a different one for PRO, and the drawdown model itself changes: end-of-day on the Test, intraday on PRO, end-of-day again on PRO+. The table follows a 50K through all three.

What this means for a systematic strategy

A strategy that passes the Test on an EOD floor with no daily limit and a 50% consistency check meets, on PRO, an intraday floor, a $500-class daily limit and a ban on bots. The evaluation therefore tests the wrong things: the rules that end PRO accounts are absent from the Test. Size the strategy for PRO from the start (worst intraday excursion against the drawdown, worst day against the daily limit) and treat the Test as a formality; and if the strategy is fully automated, PRO is not available to it at all.

The PRO-only rules are listed on PRO account rules; payouts on TPT payouts; the full card at Take Profit Trader rules.

Take Profit Trader PRO account rules: the ones that only appear once funded

Section merged from the former standalone article on 8 October 2026; figures as verified at that date.

The rules that appear only once you are funded

None of these exist on the Test. They are published in the PRO Account Rules and in the help center, and together they make PRO a different account from the one that was evaluated.

RuleWhat it saysWhat it means for a coded strategy
No botsautomated trading prohibited; alert-driven manual execution is the compliant patha fully automated strategy cannot run on PRO
Weekly trading requirementthe account must trade every weeka low-frequency system needs a filler rule or breaches by inactivity
Limit-up / limit-down obligationpositions must be managed when a market locks limitrelevant to agricultural and some index contracts; NQ and GC rarely lock
News blackoutno trading around specified high-impact releasesadd a time filter to the code even though execution is manual

Intraday trailing drawdownthe floor follows every ticksize against the worst intraday excursion, not the worst close
Daily loss limit$500 on 25K, scaling by sizethe binding limit for multi-position days
Payoutsdaily eligibility; the card lists 5 winning days per payout, other sources describe day-one payouts; a buffer and a 60-day rule are reported. Verify with firmplan the first request around the buffer, not the calendar

Sizing for PRO

Two limits bind at once: the intraday trailing floor ($2,000 on a 50K, measured every tick) and the daily loss limit. On a day with two positions each risking $300, the daily limit is the constraint; on a day with one position that ran $1,200 in profit and came back to flat, the trailing floor moved $1,200 higher. A backtest that reports only closed-trade drawdown underestimates both. Stage comparison on Test vs PRO; the full card at Take Profit Trader rules.

FAQ

Is Take Profit Trader EOD or intraday?

End-of-day trailing on the Test, intraday trailing on the funded PRO account, end-of-day again on PRO+.

Does Take Profit Trader have a daily loss limit?

Not on the Test since January 2025. PRO accounts carry one, $500 on a 25K, scaling with size.

Does Take Profit Trader have a consistency rule?

Only on the Test: no single day at or above 50% of net P/L, and breaching it raises the profit goal rather than failing the account. PRO and PRO+ have none.

Are bots allowed on Take Profit Trader PRO accounts?

No. The PRO Account Rules prohibit bots; alert-driven manual execution is the compliant path. The Test policy is not published clearly.

What is the Take Profit Trader weekly trading requirement?

PRO accounts must trade every week; a low-frequency strategy needs a filler rule to stay compliant.

Does Take Profit Trader PRO have a daily loss limit?

Yes, $500 on a 25K and scaling with account size, alongside an intraday trailing drawdown.

What are the Take Profit Trader PRO account rules?

Intraday trailing drawdown measured every tick ($2,000 on a 50K), a daily loss limit of $500 on a 25K scaling with size, no bots (alert-driven manual execution is the compliant path), a weekly trading requirement, a news blackout around specified high-impact releases, no counter positions in the same product, and a limit-up/limit-down obligation. None of these exist on the Test, which runs end-of-day trailing with no daily loss limit and a 50% consistency check.

What is the difference between Take Profit Trader PRO and PRO+?

The drawdown clock. PRO trails intraday, every tick; PRO+ returns to end-of-day trailing with the same amounts. Both carry a daily loss limit and neither has a consistency rule.
