Rithmic
Rithmic is the piece of the stack most traders pay for without ever seeing. It is not a front-end and you do not log into it: it is the execution and market-data layer that NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart and a long list of smaller platforms sit on top of.
Rithmic at a glance
| Detail | |
|---|---|
| What it is | An order routing and market data infrastructure provider. Not a broker, not a clearing firm, not a platform you log into directly. |
| Front-ends that use it | NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart, Bookmap, MotiveWave and others |
| Prop firms on it | Apex (as a platform option), Bulenox, Take Profit Trader, MyFundedFutures (option) and others |
| Why firms choose it | Institutional-grade feed and depth of market. The licence model adds per-trader fees that firms have historically passed through in the evaluation price. |
| Bridges that connect | PickMyTrade, TradeSyncer, Traders Connect. Not TradersPost — that connects only through Tradovate and ProjectX. |
| Cost | Usually bundled into the firm's fee; CME non-professional market data runs roughly $15 per month per exchange where charged separately |
| Best for | Depth-of-market trading, scalping, and desktop platforms with a VPS setup already built around it |
What this means for a systematic strategy
Rithmic matters to a systematic strategy for one practical reason: it determines which bridge you can use. TradersPost, the most common TradingView bridge for futures, does not connect to Rithmic — it routes through Tradovate and ProjectX only. A strategy built around TradersPost and a firm running on Rithmic will not connect, and that is a purchase-time decision, not something to discover afterwards.
If the strategy needs the deepest order book or runs on a desktop platform, Rithmic is the better layer. If it fires from TradingView alerts, Tradovate is the shorter path.
