Prop firm rule changes: September 2026
Six confirmed items across six firms, six reported ones that still need a second source, and four claims that did not survive checking, two of them from our own pages. Checked on 21 September; the month closes in the first week of October and this page is updated then. The rules cards and the comparison table already reflect every confirmed row.
Confirmed changes and newly documented rules
Each row is supported by the firm’s own documentation or by at least two independent sources. Where a firm did not change a rule but published numbers we had not documented before, the row says “documented”.

|---|---|---|---|
| — | Topstep | “Topstep runs a flat 5 / 10 / 15 cap with no ladder on funded accounts.” Our own scaling-plan page said this until 21 September. False: the cap is Combine-only; the XFA opens at 2 lots on a $0 balance and scales by balance | help.topstep.com 8284223; corrected on the scaling page and the Topstep card |
| — | Take Profit Trader | “No consistency rule on the evaluation.” Our card said this. False: the Test carries a 50% rule; it is PRO that has none | takeprofittraderhelp.zendesk.com; corrected on the TPT card, the consistency table and the hidden-rules matrix |
| — | Apex Trader Funding | “No daily loss limit on evaluation accounts.” Our card said this. Only half true: Intraday evaluations have none, EOD evaluations carry a soft DLL ($1,000 on a 50K) | proptradingvibes.com, tradetanto.com, velotrade.com; corrected on the Apex card |
| — | Apex Trader Funding | “Evaluation requires 7 or more trading days.” One tracker states it; Apex product pages and three other trackers say there is no minimum since 4.0 and a one-day pass is possible | tradecovex.com vs proptradingvibes.com, tradetanto.com, curvedtrading.com |
What we corrected on our own cards
Three cards contradicted primary documentation and were corrected on 21 September: Take Profit Trader (drawdown model on the Test, daily loss limit, consistency, minimum days, automation on PRO), Apex Trader Funding (daily loss limit by product, Safety Net, payout ladder, inactivity), Topstep (scaling plan row, Live daily loss limit). Three more cards describe a lineup the firm has since replaced and are scheduled for a full refresh: Phidias (2.0 lineup), Funded Futures Family (Prime, Premier+, Velocity, S2F) and FundedNext Futures (automation row describes the CFD product). Every table that draws on those cards was updated in the same pass.
What it means for a systematic strategy
Two patterns. First, funded-stage tightening continues: Funded Futures Family’s reported Premier+ change and TradeDay’s Fast Pass change in July both add a payout-stage consistency rule where the evaluation had none, which is the shape that catches lumpy strategies on the hidden-rules matrix. Second, contract limits are being restructured rather than raised: Bulenox, FundedNext Futures and TradeDay all publish ladders that open well below the evaluation cap, so size the strategy against the rung you start on, not the number on the sales page. The contract-limit table now covers 13 futures firms.
FAQ
What prop firm rules changed in September 2026?
Confirmed as documented: Take Profit Trader’s 3-day Test minimum and PRO with no consistency rule, Topstep’s XFA scaling plan and payout paths, the Phidias 2.0 lineup, TradeDay 2.0 contract limits, FundedNext Futures and Bulenox contract ladders. Reported but not yet confirmed: Funded Futures Family’s Premier+ consistency rule and flat caps from 9 September.
Did Take Profit Trader remove its consistency rule?
No. The 50% rule applies on the Test account and has always been a Test rule; PRO and PRO+ have none. What changed in the documentation is the minimum days on the Test, now stated as 3.
Does Topstep have a scaling plan on funded accounts?
On the Express Funded Account, yes: it starts at a $0 balance and max position follows the balance (2 lots on a 50K, 3 above $1,500, 5 from $2,000). The Combine has a fixed cap and the Live account uses Dynamic Live Risk Expansion instead.
Did Funded Futures Family change Premier+?
One source reports that funded Premier+ accounts bought from 9 September 2026 carry a 40% consistency rule and flat contract caps of 2 / 4 / 6 / 10 minis. We list it as reported until the firm’s help center or a second source confirms it.
