|---|---|
| What it is | MetaQuotes’ desktop, web and mobile platform for forex and CFDs. The most widely offered platform at CFD prop firms, with MetaTrader 4 still present at a minority of them. |
| Prop firms on it | FundingPips, FundedNext (CFD), The5ers, Alpha Capital Group, Blue Guardian, BrightFunded, City Traders Imperium, E8 Markets, FTUK, FXIFY, Ment Funding, The Trading Pit, TX3 Funding (ex-TopTier Trader), GOAT Funded Trader, Funded Trading Plus |
| TradingView | No native link. TradingView charts an MT5 account only through a bridge; execution from TradingView alerts goes TradingView → webhook → MT5 Expert Advisor. |
| Bridges that connect | PineConnector (the main TradingView-to-MT5 bridge; VPS required), plus any webhook-to-EA relay the firm’s terms allow |
| Automation | Native: Expert Advisors in MQL5 run inside the terminal. Whether EAs are allowed is the firm’s rule — several CFD firms permit own-logic EAs and prohibit third-party signal copiers |
| Cost on a prop account | Included at every firm listed; a VPS for 24/5 EA execution is the trader’s cost |
| Notable | Not offered to US or Canadian residents at some firms (FundingPips states it on its program page) because of MetaQuotes’ distribution restrictions; those firms route US traders to cTrader or Match-Trader |
What this means for a systematic strategy
For a TradingView-coded strategy MT5 is the long route: alerts must reach an EA through a bridge, and the EA has to be allowed by the firm. Where the firm permits EAs, the stack is mature and well documented; where it does not (GOAT lists limited EA support, Maven bans EAs outright), MT5 offers no advantage over the firm’s web platform.
Hedge mode differs by firm: The5ers runs MT5 in hedge mode, which changes how an EA that scales in and out of one direction has to be written. Check the firm’s MT5 settings before coding the execution layer.

FAQ
Which prop firms use MT5?
On the rules cards, verified September 2026: FundingPips, FundedNext (CFD), The5ers, Alpha Capital Group, Blue Guardian, BrightFunded, City Traders Imperium, E8 Markets, FTUK, FXIFY, Ment Funding, The Trading Pit, TX3 Funding (ex-TopTier Trader), GOAT Funded Trader, Funded Trading Plus. Several offer it beside cTrader or Match-Trader rather than alone.
Can I use TradingView with an MT5 prop firm account?
For charting only, and not natively. Trade execution from TradingView requires a bridge such as PineConnector that forwards alerts to an Expert Advisor running in MT5.
Do prop firms allow EAs on MT5?
Firm by firm. Most CFD firms allow Expert Advisors you wrote yourself and ban third-party copiers or high-frequency bots; each rules card lists the automation policy.
Platform availability taken from each firm’s rules card, verified September 2026 against the firm’s program pages and current trackers; several cards carry a “verify with firm” note because firms change platforms with weeks of notice.
